Four-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Decoration, Stenciled "HAMILTON / & / JONES, / GREENSBORO, / PA.", circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled spout and two applied handles at the shoulders, featuring Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling along with stenciled foliate and triangular designs. Base with stenciled "4" flanked by two stenciled flowers. A sealed crack extending across underside, continuing several inches up reverse and 2" up right side of jug at base. Salt drips to reverse.
