Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug with Rock Teeth, Signed "Lanier Meaders", Cleveland, GA, circa 1970, ovoid jug with well-sculpted face, including kaolin eyes with black pupils looking to the side, nose with carved nostrils, pierced ears, and angled mouth with rock teeth. Unusual incised wrinkles or hair to forehead. Surface covered in a mottled dark-olive and matte green frogskin glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature. A fine, earlier work by Meaders, featuring a highly-expressive face. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 10".
