Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Large Cobalt Cornucopia Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.", circa 1855, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a cornucopia bearing large flowers, leaves, and looping vines. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very nice condition with a spout chip, two minor spout nicks, a 2 1/2" hairline to shoulder, and a minor in-the-firing contact mark to far right edge of decoration.
