Four-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT", circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a leaf, accented with dotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Two small chips to interior of rim. Minor wear to inner rim for lid. A shallow 1 1/8" chip to base on front.
