One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Clover Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a boldly-brushed clover motif featuring four blossoms. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Strong decoration. Two small chips to one handle. A 1 1/8" flake and small chip to opposite handle. Some crazing to rim area. A tiny nick to bottom edge of rim and two minuscule nicks to shoulder molding.
