Rare Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Molded Handles, attributed to the Thompson Pottery, Morgantown, WV, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and molded handles with relief designs, the front decorated with a flowering vine motif, stripes, flowers, and a freehand "3". Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A top-to-bottom jagged crack from rim on right side of jar. A thin 3 1/2" crack from rim on left side of jar's front. Chips to right handle. A chip to left handle. Some surface wear, primarily to reverse.
