Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Churn, Stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON / & CO. / GREENSBORO / Pa.", circa 1875, cylindrical churn with tall collar and applied lug handles, featuring James Hamilton maker's stenciling below a stenciled flowering vine motif. Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Base with freehand "3" flanked by dashes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Some fry to cobalt. An in-the-firing 3" separation line to interior of rim, not visible on exterior.
