Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Grapes Decoration, Stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG", PA origin, circa 1880, ovoid jug with squared spout, decorated with a large brushed design of a cluster of grapes hanging from a leafy stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. A rare design for this period in Cowden stoneware production. Excellent condition with a small spout chip and a few very minor base chips.
