Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, VA origin, mid to late 19th century, a one-gallon James River Valley jar with cobalt foliate motif on each side, inscribed "1" under each handle; paired with a three-gallon Strasburg churn with swag and hanging floral motif on front and reverse. Jar with surface wear and a large, 1 3/4" chip to rim. Churn with small rim chips, staining and/or discoloration to surface, a base chip, and some in-the-firing flaws.
