Four-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "E. & L.P. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.", circa 1870, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed floral spray, featuring two central blossoms surrounded by leaves, curved stems, and dotted trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Large restoration to left side of churn, including painted or entire restoration to left handle. This restoration extends to the far left side of the churn's front, apparently covering a vertical crack from the rim, but doesn't include touch-up to the cobalt. Small chips to interior of rim. Wear to inner rim for lid.
