Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, possibly Abial Price, Matawan, NJ, circa 1830, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a cobalt script "2", flanked by flourishes, above a fan-shaped foliate motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Reverse decorated with a double-stemmed tulip motif. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some traces of old green paint to underside, unrelated to any sort of restoration.
