Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Floral Motif, NJ origin or possibly Josiah Chapman, Troy, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, heavily-tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a impressed and cobalt-highlighted medallion in the form of a stylized flower blossom. Additional brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Interior covered in a brownish slip. Very nice condition with some shallow chipping to base and some typical in-the-firing pings.
