Extremely Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Umbrella Stand with Open Molded Handles, Fort Edward, NY origin, circa 1875, large-sized, baluster-form vessel with footed base, ovoid body, flared collar, and open molded handles, the front decorated with a large slip-trailed floral spray accented with spots. A stylishly-potted piece of exceptional size, and the only stoneware umbrella stand from Fort Edward, NY of which we are aware. Large fork-shaped crack to front, emanating from base. A faint minor, Y-shaped surface line to underside, not visible on interior. A 3/4" in-the-firing iron ping near base on side of stand. H 21 5/8".
