Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed "Lanier Meaders", Cleveland, GA, circa 1970's, ovoid jug with finely-sculpted, hand-modeled face, including pointed nose, open mouth with kaolin teeth, and kaolin eyes with dark pupils, the surface covered in an olive-brown alkaline glaze. Incised details around eyes and wrinkles between eyebrows. Appealing suspicious expression to face with eyes looking to the right. Incised on underside with Lanier Meaders signature. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 11".
