One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / NEW-YORK.", Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1825, highly-ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a brushed flower over the impressed maker's mark. A brushed daub of cobalt accents the upper handle terminal. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Three base chips. The largest of these measures 1 1/8" and another is glazed-over. A few tiny surface flakes to left side of jug.
