Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Unusual Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "OTTMAN BRO'S / & CO.. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.", circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a fat-bodied bird with crest, perched on a leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Areas of staining to sides and reverse. A thin 3 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. Three minor nicks to interior of rim. A salt drip to rim on reverse.
