Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO / FORT EDWARD, NY", circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a stylized branch or flourish. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with an in-the-firing salt drip to bird's head, reverse, and handle.
