Two Pieces of Stoneware, Cortland, NY origin, circa 1867-1869, a one-gallon cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and flared rim, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed floral motif featuring dotted accents, stamped "CORTLAND"; paired with a two-gallon crock with floral motif, stamped "M. WOODRUFF / CORTLAND". One-gallon jar hole at base on reverse, a chip to interior of rim, a few tiny nicks to inner rim for lid, an inverted U-shaped line to rim, a tiny nick to rim, a 3 1/2" thin crack from rim, and a few hairlines, one of which extends from hole on reverse across underside, and a short distance onto another side. Two-gallon crock with several rim chips, two chips to one handle, a few chips to opposite handle, and light base wear.
