Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1850, ovoid pitcher with semi-rounded rim, decorated around the body with a hanging graduated foliate motif. Area below rim decorated with a wavy cobalt line. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A chip to interior of spout where spout meets rim of pitcher. A rim chip on reverse. A circular crack around base of pitcher indicates the bottom was broken in a single piece and reglued. A 5/8" prefiring chip to top of handle, which is glazed over. A very shallow 1" in-the-firing flake to edge of handle.
