One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "E. & L.P. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT", circa 1870, cylindrical jar with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed foliate design accented with spotted trails. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 7/8" area of shallow chipping to interior of rim. Minor nicks to inner rim for lid. An in-the-firing iron ping to rim on reverse. A small lime ping to reverse near base.
