Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Smith & Day, Norwalk, CT, circa 1840, ovoid pitcher with tooled rim, the front decorated with a stylized budding plant motif above a series of scalloped swags. Cobalt highlights to capacity mark. Provenance: Collection of Harry Meyer, McDonald, PA. A 7" crack from rim on side of pitcher. Two in-the-firing contact marks to left side of pitcher. A slightly-recessed spot to right side of pitcher. Some staining to surface. A 1 1/8" salt drip to side of pitcher.
