Extremely Rare Salt-Glazed Stoneware Two-Piece Spigot with Iron-Oxide Decoration, Stamped "R.C. REMMEY & SON, / PHILA, PA.", late 19th or early 20th century, molded spigot with lightly-salt-glazed surface, curved pouring spout, and threaded end, fitted with a removeable, knobbed insert that controls the flow of liquid. This insert includes coggled circle motifs to the shoulder, chipped carved ends to the rectangular knob, and an iron-decorated surface under a clear salt glaze. The first Remmey example of this form that we have seen, constructed with exceptional craftsmanship. A chip to rounded molding on bottom of insert. A minor chip to bottom edge of knob and a small chip to opening at center of insert. Spigot itself with minor wear. L 7 1/2".
