Fine Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER / ROCHESTER", NY State origin, circa 1860, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with an artistic slip-trailed design of a daisy plant featuring a large blossom and two buds emanating from a leafy stem. Excellent spotted and striped details to blossom and leaves. Slip-trailed "4." above. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Excellent condition with a minor base chip.
