Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER. / ROCHESTER", New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flower with shaded details to petals and leaves. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Slip-trailed "2" to right of maker's mark. Excellent condition with two small, shallow chips to inner rim for lid and some staining to reverse.
