One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration and 1881 Date, Northeastern U.S. origin, 1881, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a cobalt design of a spotted bird perched on a scrolled branch, additionally accented with spots, along with the date, "1881", below. Excellent essentially as-made condition. A 4" vertical hairline to side of jug near base. A base chip. Light staining to base. A minor, glazed-over nick to spout.
