Two Pieces of J.M Pruden, Elizabeth, NJ Stoneware, third quarter 19th century, a two-gallon cylindrical crock with slip-trailed plant decoration featuring two large leaves, stamped "J.M. PRUDEN, / MANUFACTURER, / ELIZABETH-N.J."; paired with a one-gallon jar with stylized slip-trailed floral motif on one side, stamped ".JM. PRUDEN / ELIZABETH-NJ" within a cobalt border on opposite side. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market lot, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Two-gallon crock with drilled hole in underside and some light staining. One-gallon jar with a chip and minor nick to exterior of rim, an minor nick to interior of rim, a handle chip, faint lines to left side of jar, light streaks of staining to exterior, and water glass staining to interior.
