Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Tulip Decoration, attributed to David Parr, Jr., possibly with Thomas W. Keesee, Richmond, VA, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a large horizontal tulip motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A shallow 2" x 1" in-the-firing flake to underside at edge of jar. An additional 1" in-the-firing chip to bottom edge. Thin cracks to underside, additionally extending around base area of jar. A small chip to one handle.
