Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HUMISTON & / STOCKWELL / S. AMBOY NJ", second quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with tapered spout molding, the front decorated with a boldly-brushed floral motif. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. A small chip and small, in-the-firing stone ping to base. Spout chips. A few tiny, in-the-firing iron pings to surface.
