Three-Gallon Redware Jar with Manganese Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN W. BELL / Waynesboro, Pa.", circa 1875, ovoid jar with applied lug handles, flared rim, and incised wavy line design to shoulder, decorated on the front and back with a spotted tulip motif in brushed lead-and-manganese glaze. Additional manganese-glazed highlights to handle terminals. Interior covered in a lead-and-manganese glaze. Shoulder impressed with John W. Bell maker's mark. Heavy chipping to base. Rim chips. A 5" crack from rim on reverse. Some light surface wear. A 1 1/8" surface flake to front near base. Exfoliation to interior.
