Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1830, ovoid jar with semi-squared rim and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a horizontal tulip motif below and series of swags and hanging flowers. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a curving line of cobalt underneath each handle. Cracks to underside, one of which continues several inches up side of jar to area below one handle, where it forms a Y. A second long, horizontal Y-shaped crack on shoulder area of jar, extending through handle, with two tiny slivers reglued at shoulder along crack line. Large remnants of plaster to interior, unassociated with any restoration. Some traces of silicone or glue to bottom edge, unrelated to any restoration.
