Seven-Liter Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Profuse Cobalt Floral Decoration, Westerwald, Germany origin, late 19th or early 20th century, ovoid jar with open handles and tooling to shoulder and base, decorated on the front and reverse with a boldly-brushed flowering vine design. Additional floral decoration under each handle. Handles decorated with cobalt stripes. Cobalt banding to shoulder and base. Base inscribed "7 / KC", the capacity and probable signature of the decorator. Unusually large size. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 17 1/2".
