Four-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Decoration, Stenciled "JAS. HAMILTON / & CO. / GREENSBORO. / PA", circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with tooled shoulder, decorated with three graduated stripes above James Hamilton maker's stenciling. Base with bold-faced stenciled "4", flanked by flourishes, along with a small freehand stripe above and two larger stripes below. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. One handle restored. Some minor crazing to front, near base. Traces of old varnish(?) to base area. A minor nick to top of spout.
