Five-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Decoration, Stenciled "C L WILLIAMS / & CO / NEW GENEVA / PA", circa 1895, cylindrical jug with tooled spout and applied handles at the shoulders, the front featuring C.L. Williams maker's stenciling, freehand stripes, and a freehand "5" at base. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Desirable form. Provenance: From an over forty-year private collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small, in-the-making mark (possibly from a thumbnail) at base on reverse.H 19 1/2".
