Five-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "L.B. DILLINER. / NEW GENEVA, PA.", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated at the center with Leander B. Dilliner maker's stenciling surrounded by stenciled flourishes. Shoulder and base decorated with freehand stripes, the base with a bold-faced stenciled "5" flanked by wavy stripes. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Collection of Lorren Lambert, Staunton, VA. Some staining and light surface wear. A shallow 3/4" chip to one handle. In-the-firing chips to underside near edge. H 15 1/2".
