Rare One-Gallon Double-Signed Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Wreath Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG. PA", circa 1865, ovoid jar with flattened rim, decorated with a boldly-brushed cobalt wreath and cobalt highlight to the maker's mark. Reverse impressed with a second Cowden & Wilcox maker's mark, lacking cobalt. Significant restoration to rim. A Y-shaped crack on underside, extending 4 3/4" up side of jar on one side and 3 1/2" up side of jar on opposite side. Some additional short, minor surface lines to base area. Some wear to Albany slip on interior base. Minor wear to interior of rim.
