Four-Quart Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "EVAN R. JONES / PITTSTON, PA.", circa 1875, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, handle at base on reverse, and clay ears fitted with a wood-and-wire bail handle. Reverse with brushed tulip motif. Brushed cobalt highlight around base of spout and highlights maker's mark. Includes contemporary metal lid and spout cover hand-made from old painted tin. Excellent condition with a salt drip to front, some expected wear to ears, a tiny nick to spout, and a faint 2 1/2" surface line from rim, not visible on interior.
