Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, American, circa 1875, a five-gallon double-handled jug with cobalt floral decoration and script "5", Midwestern origin; paired with a four-gallon jug with cobalt floral decoration and script "4", stamped "A.J. BUTTLER / MANUFACTURER / NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.". Double-handled jug in excellent condition with some light fry to cobalt and two small in-the-firing contact marks to reverse. Buttler jug with a long, shallow flake to top of spout, a small spout chip, and a small, glazed-over spout chip, as well as two short lines to side of jug at midsection, and some in-the-firing discoloration to surface.
