Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, New York State origin, circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird with turned head, perched a leafy branch accented with spots. Restoration to rim and base. Top-to-bottom restored crack on reverse, extending onto underside. Some heavier salting to shoulder area on reverse. A 2 1/4" X-shaped line near base on side of crock.
