Twelve-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO. / PA.", circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles; decorated with a freehand stripe and vine design to the shoulder, Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling at the midsection, surrounded by various stenciling flourishes and freehand dashes, and a stenciled "12" with stenciled and freehand flourishes and stripes at base. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Broken and reglued. A chip to interior of rim. Surface wear to midsection. H 21 3/8".
