Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "WARNE & LETTs / S. AMBOY / N. JERSY / 1806", Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts, South Amboy, New Jersey, 1806, ovoid jar with footed base and heavily-tooled shoulder, featuring the large impressed maker's mark, "WARNE & LETTs 1806 / S. AMBOY. N. JERSY", brushed over in cobalt slip. Reverse with brushed cobalt leaf motif. Excellent size. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Broken into pieces and crudely reglued, including chips along some crack lines. H 7 1/4".
