Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Floral Decoration, attributed to Peter Cross, Hartford, CT, circa 1806-1808, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a flower with impressed circle at the blossom's center. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Property of a New York State collector. Base chips, a shallow flake to top of spout, and some in-the-firing flaws, including a contact mark to front and reverse.
