Very Rare Two-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Hand-Incised Maker's Initials, Inscribed "F L B", Franklin L. Becham, Crawford County, GA, late 19th or early 20th century, ovoid jug with narrow spout and ribbed handle, the surface covered in a streaky green alkaline glaze. Handle incised with the large letters, "F L B", for Crawford County, Georgia potter, Franklin L. Becham. This jug is highly unusual in its employment of a hand-incised, initialed signature, as opposed to Becham's typical impressed initials. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Excellent condition with a few minuscule nicks to spout. H 13 1/2".
