Extremely Rare Glazed Stoneware Figure of an Elephant, Incised "A.M.", Arie Meaders, Cleveland, Georgia, circa 1956-1969, with wheel-thrown body and applied features including ball-shaped eyes, flattened ears, tusks, and curved trunk, the surface covered in a mottled whitish glaze. Incised toes and nostrils. Incised under one foot, "A.M.", for Arie Meaders. One of the small number of Arie Meaders elephants known. Outstanding figural form. Mint condition. L 10 1/4".
