Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "Wm. H. INGELL. / TAUNTON, MASS.", circa 1845, squat-shaped jug with tooled spout, decorated with a brushed design and splayed leaves connected at the center. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. A 3 3/4" vertical hairline descending from shoulder on reverse. A 1 1/8" in-the-firing wrinkle in clay on front. Some shallow chipping to base.
