Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG", PA origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed flowering plant design featuring three fan-shaped blossoms. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Restoration to rim and surface, not touching decoration. Wear to inner rim where a lid would rest. A minor nick to one handle. Some surface crazing to left side of jar, not visible on interior.
