Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "ADAM CAIRE / PO'KEEPSIE, NY", circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a long-tailed bird perched on a stump flanked by ground cover. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a bowed area to shoulder on reverse.
