Unusual Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Plymouth, PA Advertising, Pennsylvania origin, circa 1875, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, tapered rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with the stenciled cobalt inscription, "McKINNER & SIMONS / Wholesale / Dealers in / STONE & / ROCKINGHAM / WARE / PLYMOUTH, PA.". Slip-trailed "3" flanked by flourishes to shoulder. An approximately 7 1/2" Y-shaped crack from rim on reverse. Two minor chips to left handle. Minor wear to right handle. Some wear to interior of rim.
