Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar, Stenciled "JAMES HAMILTON & CO. / GREENSBORO / PA", circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and rounded wax sealer rim, decorated with freehand stripes above and below James Hamilton maker's stenciling. Small lines at base, a small base chip, and a small, glazed-over base chip, which occurred in the firing, visible on the side and reverse of jar. Chips to interior of rim. Small chips and wear to inner wax sealer rim. Some fry to cobalt stripe at base. H 9 1/2".
