Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Grapes Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG .PA", circa 1865, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and tapered spout, decorated with a brushed cluster of grapes hanging from a leafy vine with corkscrewing tendril. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small glazed-over chip to handle, a minor glazed-over nick to spout, and some light wear to front.
