Four-Quart Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "LEWIS JONES / PITTSTON PA", circa 1890, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout and wood-and-wire bail handle, decorated on the reverse with a graduated flower blossom emanating from a leafy stem. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark, ears, and base of spout. A 5 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. Two faint Y-shaped lines to reverse. Two chips to one ear. One chip to opposite ear. Chips to tip of spout. A minor chip to handle at base on reverse.
